F1 is not only about champions, it is about the drivers who slipped the cracks, those with fire in their eyes and nowhere to put it.
Some were crushed by bad timing in F1 or sheer misfortune.
We will share the 10 drivers left us asking, long after their helmets were put away, “what if?”

Christian Klien
Klien showed flashes of brilliance at Jaguar in 2004, he even outqualified Mark Webber at the time. Yet, he was sacrified to Red Bull’s youth program and eventually left behind as Vettel rose.
What might have happened if Klien had more than 51 races to prove himself, just like Jenson Button, who needed 114 races to win his first race? And why not Red Bull team in 2010?

Scott Speed
He was the first American to compete in F1 since Michael Andretti, and managed to score points despite Toro Rosso’s struggling cars.
His dream was cut short, he was great and could have give done more in F1, but he was replaced in mid-2007 season.

Jaime Alguersuari
He was probably the best Spaniard after Alonso in Formula 1, he became the youngest ever driver with Toro Rosso.
However, in 2011, a simple text ended his career, no farewell lap and no warning.
What if experience had met his raw talent in a top car. Jaime Alguersuari deserved more time in F1.

Sébastien Buemi
He was solid, we expected more from him, he was solid for Toro Rosso, scoring points in nearly half races in 2011.
But he was replaced with Vergne, Buemi deserves top 10 in our list, he deserved more time in F1.

Justin Wilson
Back in the day he was the tallest driver in the grid, even Minardi and Jaguar had to modify their cars for him.
At Jaguar he could do more so he was replaced at the end of the season in 2003, and never got a chance again.

Enrique Bernoldi
Let’s not forget about the Brazilian Star back in the day and his best race in Monaco GP, where he held off Coulthard for 18 laps in 2001.
He was brilliant in defensive driving, just like Nick Heidfeld in his prime.
He deserved more time and what if Arrows had give him a car worthy of his skills?

Bruno Senna
Senna’s name was back in F1, but his career was short also in Formula 1, the weight of his family name, however, made it hard to define his own path.
Did he deserved more time in F1? The answer is yes, we needed to see his name more around.

Paul di Resta
He quietly outperformed teammates at Force India, remaining composed under pressure.
Yet, his career was short in Formula 1, in 2014 he lost his seat in F1 because he didn’t have enough sponsors.
What if consistency had been valued more than funding in F1?

Antônio Pizzonia
Another aggressive driver just like Montoya, he impressed in testing, driving for Williams team.
But pressure, crushed him during his two seasons in F1, leaving zero points.

Pascal Wehrlein
Wehrlein started competing in F1 back in 2016, driving for Manor team.
Later he joined in 2017 at Sauber team. He scored 6 points during his time in F1.
He was also reserve driver of Mercedes team.
What if Mercedes put him in 2017 instead of Bottas? Another unlucky driver who deserved more time in F1.

Mick Schumacher
Son of F1 legend Michael Schumacher, he made his debut in 2021 for Haas F1 team.
Despite showing promise, he faced challenges in his first season.
In 2022, Mick started to show his potential and finished P6 at the Austrian GP.
There are rumours now Mick could be reserve driver at Cadillac in 2026, with a hope for a seat in 2027 for the German driver.
What can we say more?
F1 moves fast, but talent left behind leaves slow bruises. These drivers remind us that the grid is not always fair. Politics, money, and chaos can eclipse brilliance.
For every champion, there are ten ghosts in unraced cars. Who still keeps you up at night? Tag the driver whose exit broke your heart.
