Ferrari has, after all these years, finally come out into the open. Flamboyant design will race again in 2025 with a radical and risk-taking strategy toward their car construction. After the illustrious ending of the 2024, team principal Fred Vasseur confirmed the bold strategy for the aggressiveness of the car for Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, the shining stars of the team.
From a distressed beginning in 2023, the Maranello-based squad has now reached an impressive distance. The early flip flops in issue led to a repackage of the team, and by 2024, it had become Ferrari’s best competitor to the Red Bull team.
Some season highlights were the victories in Australia by Carlos Sainz and the triumph of Charles Leclerc in Monaco. These were testimonies of what the squad is capable of producing. Progress was somewhat hampered by an uninspiring Spanish GP upgrade package. Rapid mid-way recovery mechanisms secured a comeback for Ferrari to regain its place alongside the front runners, with the Monza’s updates being pivotal for its resurgence.
Fred Vasseur reflected on the strength of persistence in the team’s transformation, saying,
“A positive point of our season for me is when we struggled between the end of June and the beginning of July and we were able to react quickly.”
Vasseur also highlighted the significance of their improved performance later in the year:
“Then showing good pace both in the race in Budapest and Spa.”
A Revolutionary 2025 Approach
Ferrari is daring above all other manufacturers to think and design outside the box. According to Vasseur, only 1 percent of the design of its 2024 car would go into its 2025 machine, clearly signaling a bold departure.
As Vasseur put it: Ferrari’s way of behaving isn’t without the threat of risk:
“It is true that now when you develop the car, sometimes you also run some risks by introducing updates. And it is something that has affected everyone. But it is the way you react in this situation that becomes fundamental, also for next year.”
However, hold the last one for the new regulations-it’s the last year of the current regulations, and it is an opportunity to extract as much performance from it as possible. The solid base that Ferrari has to develop from in late 2024 allows them to do that with little compromise.
Speaking of the new car, Vasseur added:
“We are in the fourth year of application of this regulation, and we know our previous projects very well. For this reason, the 2025 car will be completely new.”
Looking Towards the Future: The Stakes of 2025
The season will be a battlefield before the 2026 regulations dramatically change racing as we know it. This battle is the 2025 season. The early rounds of the year can be the determining factor in the pecking order because not much will be expected when it comes to any upgrade through the season.
Ferrari much makes sure that they take the chances; it illustrates the fact that they want to be in every single opportunity, not to relive their history of being overly matured. A gamble for the team, if successful in the coming season, can be a turning point to make them closer to defeating Red Bull.
A New Era for Ferrari
Scuderia is well on its way to establishing itself in a completely new ambit with a really aggressive car for the 2025 season being developed and a really promising driver duo. The car would be ready for the Grand Prix early next year.
Now that it takes pushing Ferrari into a different legacy, it remains if Ferrari can hold on to the increased speed and turn it into a promise of ambitions fulfilled. As Vasseur said:
“This type of reaction will be fundamental for next year.”
If they manage, 2025 might indeed be the year Ferrari rejoices in the return to glory with the title.
