Former Formula 1 driver says that McLaren’s driver Lando Norris does not deserve the number one status right now, even for his escalating title fight with Max Verstappen.
At Monza, Norris had the chance to win the race if he didn’t was forced by Oscar Piastri after the race started.
“I completely disagree with the British press after they stood up for Norris at Monza,” said Doornbos for Zigo Sport.
“British team cannot favour one driver, because Piastri will not accept it and he was simply faster than Norris at Monza, we saw it all.” Doornbos continues.
“Norris does not deserve to be number one driver, if you cannot keep your place in the first lap then what?”
“He is not worthy of having the team fully behind him,” Doornbos on Norris.
With seven races to go now, it seems more difficult for Norris to keep up and fight for the championship, as he lost a lot of points in the last few races, while McLaren let them race.
