V8 Supercars Set Their Sights on Daniel Ricciardo for Bathurst 1000

While it has been a while since he last performed on track in Formula One, Daniel Ricciardo is still very much in demand in the world of motorsport with hopes of luring him into V8 Supercars growing especially as the Bathurst 1000 race is drawing nearer. Speaking to the media recently, CEO Shane Howard revealed the extent of the contribution Ricciardo could make to the series, stating that his engagement would be ‘massive’ for the series and that Ricciardo would be received with open arms.

Howard was quoted as saying, “Would we like to see Daniel Ricciardo in a Supercar? 100 percent.” He also noted how the fans would enjoy watching Ricciardo behind the wheel of a race car at Bathurst praising the Australian’s skills as an `amazing driver and a character.`

Having been dismissed from the Formula 1 team recently, Ricciardo has not made any announcements regarding new championships that he plans to participate in, however, the V8 Supercars are keen to look to his geography in order to make the most of his potential. With a supposed street competition in Perth planned for 2026, Howard argued that this would be an important consideration for Ricciardo who is one of the ambassadors of tourism for the state of Western Australia.

“Can you even picture that? If he was able to compete in Perth – now that would be quite amazing,” Howard stated. He said that the Ricciardo would be contacted by V8 Supercars at the appropriate moment, making it clear that he is wanted to race for the team.

As everyone is looking forward to the Bathurst 1000, the motorsport fraternity is keen to see whether Ricciardo will embark on this new phase in his career.
