Neurosurgeon’s Take on Michael Schumacher’s Health Amid Wedding Claims

Skepticism has been voiced by one of the most prominent neurosurgeons regarding the newfound claims that Michael Schumacher was present at his daughter Gina’s wedding that took place in Majorca. The family and friends event, which is said to have taken place, allegedly included ‘no phone’ policy for guests to avoid intrusion on the privacy of the renowned Formula 1 player.

Since suffering a devastating brain injury after a skiing accident in 2013 that entailed two life-threatening operations, Michel Schumacher for the most part has not been in good health. He is currently reclined with his wife Corinna taking care of him with few people being allowed to visit.

Jussi Posti, who is in charge of the department of neurosurgery and traumatic brain injuries in Turku University Hospital of Finland, explained issues concerning the reports. Posti also added, “If a hospital has been built in his house, it suggests that he has been in hospital most of the time.” Posti however also casts doubts on the possibility of Schumacher making public appearances due to the disturbing information regarding his health.

He added that many of those individuals who sustained severe brain damage become rather weak and limited as time goes on. “This means that for the past ten years he has most likely been within that state,” Posti stated. He pointed out that such patients usually don’t improve further after two years, which made it hard to believe that there had been any significant progress in Schumacher’s health status.

Given all the facts highlighted, and the persistent interest on the public’s part towards the health of Schumacher, Posti’s comments are a reminder about the way such complex pathologies as serious brain injuries predispose towards a particular outcome over a prolonged period of time and therefore invoke the need to empathize with the situation of this former racer.
