Full Results F1: Qualifying – Canadian GP

George Russell delivered a breathtaking performance at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, snatching pole position for Mercedes with a scintillating lap of 1:10.899 in a dramatic Q3 session. This wasn’t just a personal triumph for Russell; it was a powerful statement for the entire Mercedes team, amplified by rookie sensation Kimi Antonelli securing an impressive P4 in his debut season.

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen came agonizingly close, missing pole by a mere 0.160 seconds, and will start alongside Russell on the front row. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri continued his strong run, taking third and just edging out the impressive Antonelli. Lewis Hamilton, now in Ferrari red, showed his enduring class with a composed final run to lock down P5.

The biggest surprise of the day belonged to Fernando Alonso. After struggling for much of the season – his previous best race result was only P10. Tomorrow presents a golden chance for him to convert that into his strongest result this year.

Contrastingly, it was a frustrating session for Lando Norris. Despite McLaren showing competitive pace, Norris couldn’t quite hook it up with the front runners and will start seventh, continuing a challenging run of form compared to teammate Piastri.

With a mixed-up grid, the ever-present threat of unpredictable Montreal weather, and incredibly tight margins between the top teams, Sunday’s Grand Prix is shaping up to be an absolute thriller.
